A thermal runaway envelope is a flight deck mitigation accessory designed to address incidents involving thermal runaways in lithium-ion batteries, such as those often used in EFBs. The envelope allows pilots to quickly enclose, dismount and remove the malfunctioning tablet from the flight deck, helping to mitigate the consequences of an in-flight thermal runaway. An LTRM, or Long Term Removable Mount, is a flight deck mounting solution designed to securely hold Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs) on the flight deck during all aircraft operations. Our LTRMs typically install in seconds with no special tools required, and because they are removable and require no aircraft modification, they are classified as “portable,” making regulatory approval straightforward.
