WHY PIVOT

EFB is Constantly Evolving

From Paper to Digital

A typical pilot flight bag carries volumes of approach books, navigation charts, aircraft and company operating manuals. This flight bag could weigh as much as 40 pounds and access to critical documents is not very efficient. The advent of smart devices gave way to the beginning of a transition to the paperless cockpit. Instead of carrying cumbersome flight bags, airlines began issuing pilots portable tablets known as “electronic flight bags,” or EFB. The EFB allows the pilot to have localized command of all flight related documents without the inefficiencies, costs, excess weight and hassle of the traditional paper charts.

Do It Today

PIVOT is the best option for new or established programs in need of a simple deployment which will last indefinitely. Getting started is the first step to enhanced cockpit efficiencies and cost savings. As the EFB program matures, PIVOT’s inherent flexibility will be ready to support any program in the direction that is best for the company and its user group.

PIVOT Evolves as EFB Evolves

This transition to EFB is in its infancy. As of January 2017, just a small percentage of the world’s airlines have transitioned to EFB. Many are waiting to see what the major airlines do and how they do it. Or they are concerned about how to launch an EFB program efficiently. PIVOT answers these questions clearly – as evidenced by the number of airlines, military, and corporate users of all sizes and types who have adopted the system since 2013. Each client has seen PIVOT can be easily deployed, is especially well designed for their EFB users, and has long term viability regardless of the inevitable changes in device types or form factors which lay ahead.

Company Asset or Opportunity Cost

Opportunities for cost savings with portable EFB are significant. Waiting to employ EFB wastes valuable corporate resources. Fuel consumption per pound of lift for each aircraft is a calculable. Saving 80 pounds of lift per flight, when multiplied by the number of flights per year, potentially translates into hundreds of millions of pounds of lost lift or wasted fuel – and possibly millions of dollars annually. Consider turning this added lift into revenue-generating cargo. The cost of printing, shipping, and manually distributing paper updates is expensive. It also has significant lead times until it reaches the cockpit. In addition to saving fuel, time and money, PIVOT reduces the environmental footprint which paper represents. Electronic delivery provides up the minute accuracy for charting at the touch of a button. PIVOT EFB systems contribute to the company bottom line with improved efficiency and asset deployment.

Better Cases

  • Upgrade your Pivot knowing your mount will never be obsolete. PIVOT’s standardized mount supports current and future devices.

  • You’ll get virtually 360-degree one-handed infinite adjustability, thanks to PIVOT’s mounting plate and the adjustable-tension dogbone design – a PIVOT original.

  • The premium PanaVise mount is constructed of superior materials and is easy to secure. Other mounts leave air trapped, which, as altitude or temperature increases, expands and causes the suction cup (and device) to separate! Not good. In contrast, PanaVise mounts evacuate all air particles, creating an unequaled window connection. No air, no separation!

  • Supple and clear, the suction cups on PIVOT’s PanaVise mount are at their best on heated windows, but they provide an amazing grip even on curved glass, unheated panes, or scratched, imperfect surfaces.

  • Provides padded protection to your tablet outside the cockpit, offers auto on/off functionality, and provides multiple viewing angles for work outside of the cockpit with the removable folio cover. Notches in the cover allow for an adjustable kickstand display.

  • Only 30% of case back comes into direct contact with your tablet, providing an insulating air pocket that minimizes heat transfer common to other cases.

Better EFB

The EFB solution designed with pilots in mind

A unique and amazingly simple way for devices to interact with the aircraft. PIVOT’s patented tablet case and universal mounting system, designed specifically for use by pilots in the cockpit, combines a high-performance streamlined case and mount in models available for all popular EFB devices. Pairing a state-of-the-art PanaVise suction cup and the PIVOT Parts Kit, this system is simple, effective, durable, affordable and scalable.

Better connection – between case and mount, pilot and data

With PIVOT, the case and mount join together using the patented universal quick-connect system, which only PIVOT offers. This technology is built into every PIVOT case, offering the user an efficient and consistent way to install and remove device from mount – every generation of the system will feature the same functionality.

With virtually no training required, the intuitive system becomes the common ground with your entire user group, no matter the size. Infinite screen adjustability (as simple as adjusting your car’s mirror) and resultant functionality give pilots unmatched opportunity to comfortably access and correctly process critical EFB data. Quite simply, a better connection between case and mount, pilot and data.

Better Mounts

PanaVise mount – The premium PanaVise mount is constructed of superior materials and is easy to secure. Other mounts leave air trapped, which, as altitude increases, expands and causes the suction cup (and device) to separate! Not good. In contrast, PanaVise mounts evacuate all air particles, creating an unequaled window connection. No air, no separation!

SuperGrip suction cups – Supple and clear, the suction cups on PIVOT’s PanaVise mount are at their best on heated windows, but they provide an amazing grip even on curved glass, unheated panes, or scratched, imperfect surfaces.

Land and air proven – PIVOT’s PanaVise mounts stay mounted and offer extreme reliability, keeping your EFB program running smoothly.

*AC 120-76D:

Portable vs Installed: “EFB equipment components supporting EFB applications are “installed” when they are incorporated into aircraft type design under 14 CFR part 21, or as a proper alteration under 14 CFR part 43, § 43.3. All other components supporting EFB functionality are considered “portable,” regardless of how often they are removed from the aircraft.”

Viewable Stowage: “A portable device or component used to secure portable EFB hardware, which is viewable to the pilot (e.g., kneeboards, suction cups, and removable trays).”
